It’s that time of year again! Cupid is on comes a calling this Valentine’s Day, and you better be ready with a romantic date idea or two.
But what if you’re stuck in a post-CNY rut or busy with work? No worries, here are some humble suggestions for romantic dates and retreats that’ll fit both introverts and extroverts!
Introverts
For introverts, you’ll generally want to stick to indoor activities or ones that have more peace and quiet.
Book Cafes
For bookworms, besides the obvious bookstores like the trusty Kinokuniya in KLCC or recent upstart Tsutaya in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, there’s also the trendier option of book cafes.
Little Giraffe Story House

Built out of an old New Village-style house, Little Giraffe Story House mainly serves as a children’s library but also houses a café and community space to just hang out. Highly recommended for couples looking for some “rural” quiet to spend the day away.
Little Giraffe Story House
Address: 114, Jalan 15, Batu 11 Cheras, 43200 Cheras, Selangor

Jing Si Books & Café (Bukit Bintang)
For a more chic book date, try out the Jing Si Books & Café branch right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, which boasts a cozy basement location and relaxing wooden-bamboo furnishings. Although they mostly stock Chinese books on Buddhism and traditional medicine, all are welcome to order some tea and read.

Hiking
Hiking doesn’t seem like the first thing that would attract introverts, but scenic trails and the tranquility of nature can be appealing to quiet types. Just make sure to pace yourselves and stay safe!
Bukit Broga

Parked in between Selangor and Negri Sembilan, Bukit Broga is a popular spot thanks to its three peaks, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding Semenyih area. A common plan is to start before dawn and reach the first or second peak to see the sunrise – a pretty romantic Valentine’s, if you ask me!

Address: The trailhead starts near the free MPKJ Kajang parking lot (Google Maps).
Entrance fees may be collected for other nearby parking areas and for access to the peak.
Kanching Eco Forest Park

On the opposite end of Selangor in Rawang, Kanching Eco Forest Park is a feast for nature-lover introverts, featuring over seven levels waterfalls to soak or just admire from afar. All of the falls have different shapes and sizes too, giving you and your partner some delightful sights as you make your way up the trails. Don’t visit during bad weather though, as heavy rains can make falls dangerous.

Extroverts
For extroverts, a suitable Valentine’s Day out usually involves large crowds or energetic activities to burn through all of that extrovert energy.
Nightclubs
Since this year’s Valentine’s falls on a Friday, what better way to celebrate it than by partying the night away!
